- SynopsisDrama. Cotton Mary is a middle-aged Indian nurse working in the Indian state of Kerala in the early 1950's, who claims that her father was a British army officer. She sees her chance to gain a footing in a colonial household when she begins working for the lonely wife of a BBC radio correspondent who is often away from home. Before long Mary has practically taken over the running of the house, having made sure that the wife's trusted servant is sacked. (Synopsis)
